3rd Generation IgE Allergy Test – FABER
The first generation of allergy test involves binding allergenic extracts to a solid phase and then incubating this with the patient’s serum, This RAST test involves dangerous radioactive materials and could only be performed in specially equipped laboratories.
The second generation tests involve measuring the degree of colour change or the strength of the fluorescence to determine the quantity of bound anti-IgE antibodies.
Recent developments in allergy blood tests include the use of molecular allergens. Since a crude allergen extract contains many different proteins, only a few of which can cause an allergic reaction, binding to the irrelevant proteins often result in false positive results, the accuracy of the tests would improve. Another recent development is the multiplex assay, the amount of allergens needed is also greatly reduced, thus lowering the cost of the test. It also allows more allergens to be tested with a given amount of blood sample.
Faber Allergy Test employs nanotechnology and is a 3rd generation multiplex assay. It can accurately measure total IgE level up to 25,000 IU/ml in blood serum.

FastCheckPOC®20 Allergy Blood Test
Determination of allergen specific IgE in blood
Immediate Type Allergic Reactions
Type I (immediate type) allergic reactions are mediated by the IgE antibody. Low levels of immunoglobulin circulate in the blood stream as the majority is bound to the surface of mast cells and basophil granulocytes.
The binding of allergen epitopes to specific IgE antibodies, located on the surfaces of granulocytes, triggers the immediate release of pro-inflammatory mediators (histamine, enzyme, cytokines) which cause allergic symptoms.
FastCheckPOC®20 is a portable enzyme immunoassay for the qualitative determination of allergen specific IgE from capillary or venous blood. This test should only be performed by medical personnel who have been trained in the use of in vitro diagnostics products. This test is intended for use as a tool to support the diagnosis of Type I allergic sensitizations in patients who show clinical symptoms such as:
- Seasonal and perennial rhinitis and conjunctivitis (hay fever)
- Allergic rhinitis
- Allergic asthma
- Allergic eczema
- Allergic gastrointestinal disorders
Reliable, Efficient, Comprehensive
FastCheckPOC® 20 is manufactured and engineered in Germany and approved to use in European countries. Only a pin prick is needed, the test can covers >90% of the most predominant allergens in Hong Kong (19 inhalant & 16 food allergens).
FastCheckPOC® 20 is particularly well-suited for patients undergoing treatment with antihistamines or patients suffering from dermatitis or other skin conditions with contraindications to skin testing. The test is also ideal for individuals averse to skin prick, scratch or intracutaneous allergy testing (e.g. children, elderly persons, pregnant women) or for patients who are predisposed to anaphylactic episodes.
FastCheckPOC®20 covers common inhalant allergens in Hong Kong

Skin Patch Test (Skin allergy test for Contact Dermatitis)
- Suitable for contact dermatitis in skin care products, rubber gloves, footwears, handbags, cleaning agents, perfumes, detergents, shampoos, leather goods, and more…
- Manufacture in Sweden by Chemotechnique
- Certified in ISO 13485 & ISO 9001
Contact Allergy
Some people develop patches of dermatitis and the cause is not clear. Metals, skin care products, rubber gloves, footwears, handbags, cleaning agents, perfumes, detergents, shampoos, leather goods contain many chemicals and some of them might be the cause. Contact dermatitis is a skin disease. Occupations such as hair stylists, makeup artists, jewellery makers, furniture makers, construction workers, cleaners, etc put a person in high risk of contact dermatitis. Although these allergens cannot be tested through a IgE blood test, a skin patch test can identify these allergens and help to avoid them.
Skin Patch Test Procedures
- Attach the water-resistant stickers on the back
- Let the sticker contact with your skin for 48 hours.
- Daily activities and showering may continue.
- Remove the stickers after 48 hours
- Check the test results within 24 hours
